1st trip in 2010

Langkawi - here we come! *what tuft - it's over!*

set off on sunday 3rdJan 2pm arrived at 3+. lunch at kenny rogers cuz we flew tiger air, bo lunch on board. took cab [rm18) to Langkawi Boutique Resort. Don't be bluffed by the name. The room is pretty chui! *boo-hoo-hoo* Saddest thing was Espn wasn't working in our room! When i tried to tune for channels, no luck. Resorted to manually tugging the wire cable, hahaha.. and I managed to get Star Movie clearly, provided we both stand\cross a certain position in the room.

But being adventurous and ga-rang, what's to be afraid off? at least the room is on highest floor = no\less mozzie flies!! + clean bed + working heater and aircon! we are satisfied. This is definitely not a place to lounge in the hotel room, you've got to get your butt to the beach, lay on the sand, zonk out or wad in the water man!!! *wt..

[side story abt the room - first nite sleeping on the bed, we look at the ceiling, chatting away.
C: Two nights ago, we were in 5star Conrad Centennial Hotel!
Last night, we were in cozy home bed with familiar lovely scent!
Tonight, we are HERE!
*in such state, i on my darling radar to sense whether he is venting some anger\getting depressed over the state of the room or was he just plainly making a joke* _ conclusion = joking *luckily* _ hate to console him when I am not any better *oppz)

Well, having getting even with the room, it's time for the adventures!!!

Headed out to check out the beach and water quality. Cenang beach that we are staying along is a water sport activity beach.
Parasailing- up so damn high, no joke. Standing on the sand, looking up at the parasailing guy. He's only the size of my little finger! Macham touching the clouds! and if *choichoi* lightning strike, he surely chao-da!

Angmoh- sun-tanning on the beach, drinking beer, reading book, being chopped raddish head by local telling them one sun-tan chair for one person, cannot put their friends' bag nor can they sit on that deck chair. *so-neow!

Highschool chinese gals- 6\7 of them in same sarong, diff colours posing around, jumping in the air and dishing out sunshine, youth and self-indulged happiness with the sun setting in the backdrop and ang-moh young man taking photos for them! *awwwed at their energy & youth! Am I cladded with overdosed of self-awareness to do that? hhmm...

Beach soccer- international team of chinese, angmoh, blacks, indians, malays *yum-seng to racial harmony in msia!* Need abit of actions on the sand in contrast to that in the sea and sky!

Sunset- lastly, nothing beats a beautiful sunset. It was pretty cloudy, mothership of all wu-yuns were hovering over the horizon. But the intelligent sun manage to sneak out, showcase a good 5\10min of orangey eggyolk before hiding behind the clouds and set passed the horizon. It was prettiest when behind the clouds. This ball of white clouds was hanging above the horizon line, then when the sun was behind it, we could only see sun-rays shinning upwards, casting a lining of golden around the edge of the clouds! *woohooo* but no photos, cuz camera in room. Sometimes, somethings are meant to be seen with your own naked eyes.

Looking at this horizon, I can't help but notice that it's damn long, much longer than other. I have a question - Some horizon looks further than others. Why some look so faraway [like langkawi's), but some quite short [like in naples-florida) ?

very smart conrad told me *ps it's quite smart* - it depends on the reflection of the light. whether an eye can see the horizon is dependent if lights get reflected off the water. So, if the curvature sllows more light to get reflected, then it's longer lo! *wowowowoowowo! kow-tow!!!* Not bad an answer yeah?

Google it. *hint - remember 'pytygores' theorem? something to do with a triangle?

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

okk moving on. After walking up and down cenang street looking for a decent spa\massage place, we settled for Malay Home Spa II. *wat tuff name! well, i was surprised, not by the massage quallity, but the people. I did foot massage, sit on a malay home wooden chair, rest my foot on a wooden platform laid with a batik cloth. Conrad went for back massage, so i don't know how was his setting. Well, the guy who did my foot scrub is called justin. Guess how many languages he knows?????? not 3, not 5, it's 12!!!!!! He can converse *simple phrases lah* in goddamn 12 languages - all picked up at work and he's bludddy 20 years old!!!!!! I feel old instantly! Eng, Chi, Jap, Malay, German, Finnish, Sweddish, Russian, Ukraine, Dutch, Italian, French!!! Sitting next to me was a Ukraine boy who speaks Russian and I was in shock, seeing them plik-plak plik-plak in Russian!!! omg!!

Now, dinner. Food in Langkawi is nothing near cheap. Imagine we went for local malay stall to avert those ang-moh pasta\pub restaurant. A cafe called Artisan serving pizza was fantastic! I love the tomato soup. Totally home-made!!

2nd day - Started out early cuz damn i can't sleep last nite, woke up at 3pm playing handphone sudoku till 5.30am and continue to sleep till 7.30am. omg. Too late to book for Payar Island snorkelling, so we walked out looking for car rental. walked out for a whole long stretch, got pretty disappointed cuz there wasn't any available car for rental, when we previously thot it should be easy cuz there were so many shop keeper touting. Our last resort was to cab back to airport or call to rent a car. Luckily, universe was good to us! T-shoppe!! There was a 2nd last Kancil for rent. Ok!! too happy!!! *grinnz. Paid rm120 for 24hours rental.

Took a gabra map and head out to our road trip!!! 1st stop was the Cable Car station!! [msian - rm15, non-msian-rm30) Initally, we din't think of going, but since we busted the payar island snorkelling that day and rented a car, might as well make the best use of it! And since, we never regret the decision.

The ride upward was really long and steep. By long, I am saying 1,700m from base to middle station! Up to 650m above sea level! And another 450m from middle station to top! Up to 700+m above sea level!!

The fear looking at the gradient of the slope against the sky is pretty scarry. Turning to look at the station we are towards, the sag of the cable rope. i feel like i am really tiny and if the universe wants my life, it was that moment man! i was vulnerable!!!

View up there was amazing! breath-taking! we can even see thailand islands from there! The sea is so vast and wide. The colours change from light blue to deeper shades as it goes further into the horizon! The sky was cloudy which was nice, playing hide and seek with the sun. casting really strong rays on the ocean!

Oh and to think that standing on wooden platforms at 705m above sea level is not scarry enough, they built a hanging bridge, supported by a steel bar stucked into the mountain and steel ropes to hold up this bridge.
It was just air between my feet and the canopy 50m beneath!

I felt scared, had to hold the rail as i walk, which din't help much cuz to hold the rail, i have to stand near the edge. useless me.. but still managed to walked that 125m there and back.

The even more er-xin thing is this bridge is curved. so, walking and looking straight, you can't help but focus on the emptiness beneath the front of the bridge which you are WALKING TOWARDS!!! *wth!*

Descended to solid land, drove to Datai beach, but reached a dead end after winding thru the coastal single-carriage lanes! imagine initial-D. we heard Ralf Schumacher lives here and suspect totally that he trains along these winding roads!! So, to get to Datai beach, we sneaked into The Datai, which claims to be the most private and posh resort in LGK with private beach! *what tuft! we decided to sneak to the beach. *yes, we love such adventures! Got passed 2 rounds of hotel staffs asking where we are heading. *buahhahah But when we are 5mins to it, we met an experienced staff. Asked us straight in the face, are you our hotel guest? damn! so unfriendly! One night starting from SGD 1k, you tink i print money ah. So no choice, drove our little kancil out of the premise.

head for the public beach but *blah! left in 10min.

hungry, lunch at black sand beach area. again, the black sand beach is a bluff!!! ahhaha.. i seriously think it's oil coated sand!

Headed to Tanjong Rhu Beach area - Four Season Resort. Here it is private beach too, but they are more friendly. We said, we wanna go check the rates. Hahahaha.. the Bell boy gave me the rate leaflet at the door!!! buahahaha.. then we insist on going in to the lobby. He replied, " sure, no problem. You can only go to the lobby and if you go any where else, the hotel security will find you." *ah-bish!!!!

Walking up to the lobby, nicely tucked away in a very egyptian corner with palm treess and big hanging beds. It's so serene that even my sneaky inner self took a better and decide to follow the rule this time. For an extra perk, we used the TOilet! ahhahaa..

Fair enough, at least we feel respected. Next time, I wanna drive yet a lao-pok kancil into four seasons and stay there!!!! hahahaha*

Turned to Public access for tanjong rhu beach. Oh, Heavenly! Finally see a decent looking beach. First thing i did, place my beach tower. 2nd thing, lay down and sleep!!!!! damn shiock!!!!! Kept zonking out..

When i recharged enough, walked the length of tanjong rhu beach with darling, holding hand in hand, toward where? Four Season Beach again!!!! *buahaahhah* They have a malay man to guard the beach! He was very polite, allowed us into the beach area!!! *delighted* but can't walk up to the villas. Fair enough lo!!! Not like we want to be peeping tom!

For one thing, the beach front suite cost RM20,000 a night. Yes, you see it right! = SGD 10,000 per night!!! sleeping in gold ah! next time, i pay RM20,000 a night, neither would i want free-riders to walk around, checking out my villas ah!

Well, sand at fourseasons vs public got difference lo. 5star sand is amazingly different even when it's on the same coast line. Maybe the sea water is biased, flushing finer sand to fourseasons beach!! bleah*

Next up to Kuah Town, shop abit, see the eagle sign at jetty. nothing amazing. just cheap chocolate. but i hv no bluddy checkin luggage. so din't buy much. and feeling so hot and sticky, don't think anyone will crave chocolate lah!

Back to Cenang Beach for dinner. and return our kancil. Oh, just to mention, it's 2010 and Conrad has his taste of NON-POWER STEERING WHEEL!!!! ahhaha.. I can see his buldging biceps everytime he turn left or right and reverse the car!!!

Next day, It's Payar Island snorkelling [rm100 per pax)!! Swam with baby sharks!! it's nothing less than amazing when I spoted the shark in water and chased after it!! heehee, had so much fun going after the baby sharks - the sharkelity!!! They are so clear from top - there were at least 3 or 4 of the baby ones, about 50-70cm long. And peering into the deeper waters, i saw a longer shark - at least 1 - 2meters long!!! I can confirm it's a shark, cuz of the FIN!!! omg! heehee.. the baby sharkelity brought me to see her mother!!! wat tuft!!

And beyond sharks, we saw a barracuda!!! abt 2m long!!! sitting at the bottom of the shark feeding area, staring at us!! Conrad was on top of it. I was in front of it! At one point, it was staring at me!! I saw it's eyes, but no chemistry! Can't help but notice its teeth! WTF* one by one, shinning bright! I can remember that image in my mind vividly man!!! quickly reverse and siam away. When i look again, it's no longer there. ok, i thot to myself, it's a real killer, it moves, not a fako! *run..

Feed those smaller fishy with bread and conrad catch them using his t-shirt! so fun!!! recorded in tape by new-found friends. was wait for her video!

Famished. Ate malay penang laksa as tea at resort pool side. Shiok!!

When back in resort, it's already evening. catch the sunset at cenang.

Last day, went for island hopping [rm 40each) - Pregnant lady lake, Eagle Feeding + beras besar island.
Our speed boat broke down in the middle of the sea! what an experience! yes, we sat there waiting. No bad feelings, just calm and serene, sea and sun, waiting.
Another boat came for us and sent us to pregnant lady lake. looking at the shape of the mountains, can see a pregnant lady laying down. Walked to the lake, bypassing eyeing monkeys. At the platform, there were catfishes. Again, we fed them bread. They came, swiming around our feet! so itchy! + slimy!!!

Back to jetty waiting for boat to come back for us. In the meantime, Mr Buaya decided to swim across the sea and we saw it!!! it's a crocodile!! i am sure!!! not a log, cuz it's moving in at constant speed in a steady direction!! cool!

Next to eagle feeding. They eat chicken skin. Swooping around. Some look like sea gulls though. hahaha* But they are really eagles. Brown feather+ white feather head.

Lastly, at beras besar beach! saw a hermit crab moving house! + shiny white\blue crabs scrambling around. I was amazed by the hermit crab. kept following it and acting stationery so that its willing to walk, without feeling threatened by my movement.

Lastly, back to resort, bathed, cab to airport, ate kenny rogers again. Checked in, saw a dummy man trying to smuggle a bottle of alcohol in hand lugguage. Can't pass thru. Opened the bottle and down the alcohol on the spot. *buahahahah- plain stupidity* if you wanna buy, then ask the shop to seal up the alcohol lah!!

On flight back, kept sleeping. Enjoy the larger leg room at row 13 the exit row. Felt the responsible to open the door in emergency. and the sense of social responsiblity arises in me! I buckle conrad up and force him to under buckle when plane was taxi-ing after landing. hahhaah.. usually we just unbuckle once it lands. But hahahah.. he was force to sit under buckle cuz of my false sense of security for everyone.!!!

Well, we kept attracting kids on plane. Crying kids diagonally beside us. Lastly kid behind us decided to pull drama! He threw up!!!!!!! Can you imagine the stench???? sigh.. my 1st time seeing kids throwing up in plane and i pity stewards and stewardesses!!!

All in all, short fun trip! Thanks darling! I love such get-aways with you! n our common love for beach, sea and sand!!!!!
