It's definitely more than just gambling.. It's quite culture-ly..
It's better than I imagine!
In it for a surprise myself..
Set off early from Hong Kong China Ferry Terminal, 10am ferry. We were
still contemplating not to bring our passport, lucky enough, we did.
Else, we will be out of time going back to the apartment to get it.
*heng ah*
Conrad pre-booked New World First Ferry the day before, hoping that we
can qualify for free-upgrade. In the end, it's such a scam - as the free
upgrade is only available for certain lousy timings. *boohoo*
Regardless, we board the ship with seating arrangement, so there's no
overcrowding. Slept abit and reached in 1hour 30mins.
First destination amongst the many hotels, is City of Dreams!
Cos that's where HardRockHotel is! We are looking for the classic HRH
tee, packed in album air-tight wrap...but they don't have that. Also
looking for couple key-chain, but their designs are so limited...
*boohoo x 2*
Little disappointment don't set us too far back..
Next was to The Bubble. I saw the commercial ads on the bus tv and thot
of checking it out. Not knowing what it is in it for us, we headed
there. No adverts or display. Walked up to the box office to check the
price of the show. "Tickets are free! Here's two tickets for you!" *yeah
happiness*
Given the show is an hour later, we headed for the food colosseum for
lunch. Like everywhere touristy, food is at killer price, ok, this is
not that killer, we have seen worst before.
Share a set of pork/chicken teriyaki bento set. It was so huge in
portion that we are filled to the brim!
Food quality is fine, and view was superb! We sat on the 2nd floor,
overlooking the entire Venetian opposite HRH. Omg! It's pretty. Like
looking at Venice in front of us, minus the water bodies, that's
replaced with concrete walkways.
Still, we are superbly amazed by the remaking of Rialto Bridge! Our Love
Bridge!! St Marks' Square! That piazza, the covered bridge - all names
are forgotten..
Dashed to HRH casino for a look and have a go at the lucky draw! On the
bus, we got a club shape lucky coupon, which opens to the same gift - 1
chance of lucky spin!
Queue for 15mins, get our spin! 2 chances and guess what? Available
prices are hkd 100 coupon, hkd 25coupon, free night stay and this @#$%^
sourvenier key chain. And yes, *sadly* we both got key chains! Wtfish!!!
Bo-luck = cannot gamble!
Watched The Bubble! It's a standaround in circle and screen is omni
theatre style all around and we are like in a bubble, and there is
several centre pieces like the dragon ball, lanterns and water fountain!
I must say it's really amazing!!! Love the coin dropping scene!
*ka-ching-ching-ching* *Yeah happiness x2*
My hands naturally stretch out to catch the falling coins ah!! How
ingrained in my subconscious oh!! Hahaha..
And the tiger at the start was very real, better than the main lead
character - dragons.
Afterwhich, we checked out the HRH Casino, which is comparitively empty
to Venetian's casino.
Crossed the road to the Venetian! Amazed myself by the grandiosity of
both the interior and exterior design of the place! Everything's golden
and artisty!
By very great streak of chance, we entered by the main lobby entrance
and there was ZAIA - Cirque de Soleil ticketing booth! Decided to check
out the price and see if we can afford. Many thanks to the universe for
pre-arranging pleasant surprises for us along the journey!
The tickets for shows the same night is still Available! + on Discounts
(the magic word that l love to hear!)!!!
Hkd 200 OFF for 6pm shows! Which is just the right timing for us as our
ferry back is at 10, leaving us enough time after the show for dinner or
walking around.
The mrs manila lady at the counter was very persuasive and encouraging
for us to take up the 2 of the 4remaining tickets. + She smartly booked
the 2 seats for us while we were still pondering and pondering!
Original price hkd 388 for cat C - hkd 200 off = hkd 188 = sgd 34!!!
Okie, finally after her many times of assurance that we can see
everything even it's the 2nd last row from the corner back, we make the
deal!!!
*jumping with joy after that!* *yeah happiness x3*
Checked out the Grande Canal - i.e. the main river's name in Venice!
Snapped afew pict and decided on our plan.
It was 3.30pm. We have to get back by 5.30pm. With 2hours, we need to
rush to St Paul's ruins!
So RUN!!!!
Venetian Bus --> Ferry Terminal --> Cross the road --> Hotel Lisboa Bus
--> Hotel Lisboa --> Walk
Walkie to the open space, squeeze through crowds, had a few knocks by
strangers, and a few =( moments with Darling.
At the open space, saw the Tun-Tan shop!! Egg Custard!! Milk Custard!!!
So unimaginablely smooth and soft!!
Continue walking and getting lost in the maze of people and streets!!
Took a few wrong turns, ask people and finally got to the right path and
saw St Paul's ruins!
Along the way, we had Egg Tart - the lisboa way - the portugeese way!!
At the same stall, Gam-Jan-Di lost her wallet in the korean show -
Flowers over Boys!
I was Gam-Jan-Di for a minute!!!
Queued (again) for the egg tart!! Even for egg tarts, pple queue...
Tasty! But nothing like we have never tasted before!!
Carried on walking up the hilly slope, still squeezing through packed
sardines of people.
Finally, when we reach the foot of the steps to St Paul's we took some
photos, and pondered "What's on the other side of the St Paul's gate??"
@$#% D#$m our curiosity and we ascended the flight of steps!!
It wasn't that bad actually.
Curiosity satisfied - it was an open space with supporting metal steel
bar to hold the top in place, I guess. No great view, nor I can't
remember. *boohoox3*
Still Glad to have climbed up, at least we crossed out a to-do! And the
view from the top of St Paul's looking at the tiny roads we came by, it
was great! *Yeah Happiness x4*
Dashed down, grabbing peanut cookies, almond cookies from samples -
ample supply of cookies for sampling and cookies shops vying for
tourists pockets.
The way back was faster and easier + quicker!
Conrad and I have quite abit mo-qi! We will cut through the crowd
individually, joining back again in emptier spaces, split up again to
cut through the sea of ppl, cuz it's just easier to do so when walking
alone. Cut and slice!
Reached Grand Lisboa (the newer standing block by Dr Stanley Ho - *Yeah
Happiness x5* to have stepped on Stanley Ho's famous property!
Asked for directions to shuttle bus. It's at the basement, where the
casino is located.
Head to the bus, but was blocked and asked for ticket, which we don't
have. How?
He told us to get it from any table dealers! Oh, it's a trick to get all
guests stepping into the casino arena! (and hopefully, some weak-minded
will get sucked to the table and be emptying their pockets. This is NOT
us!)
Grab our bus tickets at the quickest speed and dash back to the guard.
Let to go out!
Asked a lady frantically for Ferry Terminal bus queue - cuz the tiny
area is packed with like hundreds of people in snaking queues!!!
She pointed to a bus on the move! And Wave for it to stop! We Boarded!!
*heng!!* Right on time!! *Yeah Happiness x6* No waiting time wasted! It
feels like amazing race!
Back to Venetian at a good 5.15pm! Sufficient time to roam ard abit,
while heading towards the theatre entrance.
Saw a stall located in the centre of the walkway, squeezed with people
around it. And the sign name is the same as the one we sampled at St
Paul area! Buahah, we can get what we want here, and lucky we din't
queue to buy or pay at St Paul area! Wat a relief!!
Cut queue (without knowing as what Conrad wanted - red bean rice cake -
is right in front of the cashier) and paid. Tasty stuff, but he loves it
more than I do.
Time to get to ZAIA! (without knowing what to expect like what's the
plot, except acrobatic stunts).
Amongst the many theatre I have been to, from musicals to opera house in
Sydney, this theatre offers one of the best view of the entire stage
regardless of the category. (another is Lion King's theatre in London).
Seat space is roomy, chair is comfy. Because of my very 'tall' height, I
always fear having a big fat blockhead sitting in front of me, who will
block out 35% of my view and all through the show, I have to vear
sidewards. However, this view is totally unblock even if a big f*t
blockhead plonk in front of me. It's levelled up comfortably, without
feeling too out of the show, if you know what I mean..
Another magic about theatre is they make me sleepy for big times! I pay
$ to come in, but my brain don't know how to appreciate, kept on
releasing sleepy hormones and droopy eyelids!! Wtfish!
In the end, I missed like 1/6 of the show. Haha..
Started with a girl on the globe, flying around the theatre above the
audience.
And stunts began.
There were juggling, catching flying rings and putting onto his neck,
fire rods, hiphop robot, bouncy bounce, 4powerrangers climbing up and
down poles supported on shoulders of bouncer mans! What amazes me were
several items that I named them - flying airshow, bodily twist and arial
rope stunts!
Flying airshow was 4 people standing across difffent bars hung in the
air. 2 on the sides are to catch and throw people. 2 in the middle -
left was hung on a cross bar and right has his legs inserted in a ring
to hold himself - both of them can go in circle to catch and throw
people.
Usually, ppl is thrown, fly downwards and be caught at their hands by
the next. However, there was a stunt where a person was swing and thrown
upwards, flew across and above the right man, caught at arm and both
swang downwards, completing in a circle! Big WOW!
The last catch was miss by the right man and the flying person fell to
the safety net, and they ended the flying airshow there. *boohoo x5*
With that, I promised myself to watch another Cirque de Soleil in
another place when the chance arises!
Bodily twist - a man and woman in nude colour clothing with pretty
tattoos covering their bodies artistically. Using their body weights,
they twist and spike and turn and hold up and bend on top, beneath,
over, across each others' body! I am amazed by the spinal lower back
strength of the girl. She was held on at her ankle by the man, she bends
down slowly, gracefully until she's 180 plank to the floor. Wahpiang!
How not to 'plooonk' and fall, but do it gracefully!
It was all so slow and graceful. A great change from very masculine
acrobatics stunts, a very refreshing slow waltz style kind of grace. And
to make it better, the centre stage keeps spinning slowly, so we get to
see different angles of them twisting!!!
Last but not least, another more feminine stunts, a string of cloth hung
from top of theatre, with girl and a guy flying up and down - arial
stunts.. It was a piece of cloth and they can go up and down! Suddenly
dropping, and tugged there. Most important of all, there is NO safety
wire! Risking their lives for arts!
Superb!! Minus the nap I had!
Time to fill the hungry tummies again! Dinner at Food Court beneath
forever blue venetian skies.. Pizza for dinner.. Yummy when hot...
Again, not of pizza quality we have not tried before..
Head to Venetian Casino once again.
Entering from same level is like walking passed airport with blockage.
Nothing special.
Entering from 2nd floor, taking escalator down is amazing. There is a
middle section like a balcony overseeing the span of casino space
beneath at the changing of escalators.
At there, we facinated about throwing a chip like a dart to the table
and cooking up funny stories that suffice our imagination.. Hahah.. Had
great laughs..
Throw a 25dollar (cheapest) chip from the balcony area. Fly and landed
on roullette table, betting no 8. Ball rolled and landed on No 7. Ops..
Now, sheepishly apologize and claimed the flying chip was meant for No 7
lah...
Haha.. Hail to our endless funny stories... I know it might not be
funny for u, but it's ok.. It's funny for US..
Well, we watched Big Small, official name is Sic Bo. Why huh??
Looks easy.. D$%^&m.. The greedy soul inside me is drawn out! Man!! It's
a growing monster wanting to devour the chips with lucky hands at Big
Small.. I am already planning my next Gambling (yes, u read right -
G_A_M_B_L_I_N_G) trip to macau!!
Haha.. I have it in me - greed! Yeah! The real me! I am sure everyone
has this side of them lah, don't act!!!
So funny! BUAHAHAH.. *monster pounding its hairy chest!!*
I can't wait to try my hands at some of the games.. Oohh... =)
Suppose to try one hand, but ran out of time and can't possibly change
100note when ppl throw out 1000, right? I even saw a man throwing out
10pieces of 1000hkd... Hahaha...
Well, time to get home. Slept in upper deck of the ferry!
Ended with Hui-Lau-Shan dessert at jordan before heading home!
Everytime we completed a task smoothly and are happy about it, we
"Hi-Five!". During this trip, we "Hi-Five!" countless times!!!
*Yeah Happiness x many many times~!*
xoxo
