I can only speak from a woman perspective and how true things are going
on in my brain when I see/deal with money.
1. Woman's ability to make good decisions based on both fact and
intuition is actually quite good.
True Level: 9/10
It has happened all too many times when I am choosing my food
amongst the varied choices plastered on HK boards.
I end up eating sucky food if I go against my instinct or
preference to stick logically with my logical choice.
Like I love prawn dumpling noodle, but will avoid ordering this
because logically, I should try out other types of ingredients
available.
Just last weekend, I ordered 4-Treasure Rice coz I wanna try
something new on the menu, coz I see it so often, but not tried it yet.
But it came back to be what rubbish food ah!
4-Treasures = chinese sausages pieces, duck feet (@___@),
chicken wing tip (T___T) and salted egg!!!! What? I ate non of those!
I should have stick on to my intuition of ordering
Char-Siew-Rice!!!
2. (unfounded) low confidence and fear can translate into avoidance that
results in not taking charge of one's financial future
True level: 8.5/10
I think it is true even about me not taking charge of my current
financials. I have a love/hate relationship with those monthly bills.
If given a choice, I would automate as many payments as
possible. Obviously, the problem is resulting in over payment lah.
Now that I am in HK, I will have to pick up all the bill
payments once again. There is no avoidance choice available, facing it
upfront face-on.
True enough there is a fear and low confidence that I believe I
can't handle finances problem. I throw them all to Darling.
I am not sure how to turn around the cash flows or direct the
funds.
For now, I am happy to be in HK. Give me a limited set of funds
to play around with and I am happy to do just that.
3. Women ask for directions. Once they've taken the big step of seeking
advice, they tend to listen and take action.
True level: 8/10
Guess I am lucky enough to have someone for me to ask for
directions. =) *big smiles...proud...
Once I am clear of the big picture and directions to take, I can
stick to the tiny steps - saving money, check my spending, manage it
clean and clear.
It was more happiness to see the summation of all the money I
spent in a week n I forget the chore of having to write them down
everyday.
That requires lots of perserverance. I wanna stick on to that
oh!
And with every savings, I get to see a bumping sum in my bank,
that makes me happy! Heeheeh..
You can think I am such a money-worker, but hey! Who's not
working for money? Can you touch your heart and swear you are working
for passion?
Don't need to eat ah? Live on Air?
4. For women, money is about a lifestyle, while for men it can be more
about winning and losing.
True level: 5/10
For a women like me, called Fanny, money is about winning and
losing... at least from my perspective.
I see saving pennies as winning a battle against losing them.
Heehee..
Of couse, money is about a lifestyle too. Money buys me my shoes
I like, bbq squid I love to eat, entrance ticket to disneyland I enjoy!
5. Woman want to know 'Are we on track?'
True level: 9.5/10
This is all too often a question I ask Darling, our Finance
Minister.
Are we on track? What's the status?
Good to be on track and if diverted, let's get back..
You mean men don't think this way???
6. Women want to know what to expect, how you're going to monitor
investment returns and how over time you'll be able to help them obtain
their goals.
Men tend to take a more casual approach and shoot from the hip.
True level: 7/10
Wahhahhaa.. Shoot from the hip... how true!
Anyway, not being sexist here. Well, as women, if I work and
work like cow, I need to know how close we are moving towards our goals
right?
Every sweat, every hour I keep sitting here, typing away, seeing
my youth fly past me, I need to know how all these translates into my
goals one day right?
Otherwise, waste all my effort, all my youth, all my energy on
something that isn't going to help bring me to my goal, then why work
ah?
I might as well go back JB and help my Dad with his business?
In the end, it shouldn't be finance minister to shoulder the burden of
my goal achievements on an absolute scale.
Sometimes, I can tell why we are apart from looking at our finances...
